Go See Do - Summer is coming!!!! Yippee!

I don't know about you, but I crave for all things to be growing rather than dormant. In Spring and Summer I am at my happiest.  That's why I'm excited to show you what I've been working on for the upcoming vacation months. I've used Simple Stories Destinations collection to create a 6 x 12 mini album with tons of pockets, journaling cards, overlays, stickers and embellishments.

I'll be teaching this class at The Scrapbook Princess in Moody, AL.

  • When:  Saturday, March 31st 1:30 till 4 p.m.
  • Skill Level: Intermediate
  • Fee: $28

Class attendees may stay after and crop for free until 9 p.m.!!  whoop!

Here's a few peeks of the album. This class is almost full, so call Paulette (205) 640-3999 this week if you want to be ready for summer travel.  Thanks y'all - happy scrapping.
xoxo,
Shan

Holy Scrap!

This past weekend I did nothing but play with my scrapbook stuff! Here are a few layouts I did with Authentique's new Celebrate collection. You'll also want to check out the cute Valentine cards that Mistylynn created with the same paper! It is such a versatile paper collection - I just LOVE it! You can purchase one or the whole collection at The Scrapbook Princess who, by the way, is a premier Authentique retailer!

Canvas Art Fun With Webster's

I treasure my local scrapbook store, The Scrapbook Princess. I recently was given the opportunity to teach an altered canvas class at the store. I used the lovely Country Estate collection from Webster's Pages. You can create the most awesome layered looks with their products. The canvas alone didn't seem to be "enough" so I added a little sign to hang from the Webster's chipboard buttons. One of my favorite elements of this project were the Webster's Whimsies. Those cute littel birds will be showing up on more of my projects.
See below for a few close ups and a photo of the final example for the class.

Just a couple more layouts

Had the opportunity to attend the first "Journaling with Jenney" class at TSP (See the "Lucky Me" layout). I love taking classes because it always forces me to try different techniques. I'll be signing up for Jenney's next class in April.
After the class, a few of us stayed for the "2nd Saturday Crop". It felt good to get out the scissors, paper and glue again. (Thanks to Kristi for supplying me with some new pics of her beautiful kids!)

Women's History Month Challenge

Paulette has a challenge this month to create a scrapbook page about a woman that has been an inspiration to us. I immediately thought of my mom-in-law. She passed away at the age of 59, but during the time that I knew her, I witnessed an incredible woman. She raised 3 boys & 1 girl and was a devoted wife. The thing I loved most about her was her contagious love of life itself. She had fun everywhere she went & had many friends as was evident at her funeral. She truly loved my children and they loved her right back. I'd give anything to be able to spend just a few more hours with her right now. Here's my scrapbook page about Laura.
Hop on over to The Scrapbook Princess blog and add your layout to the challenge!

Christmas Planner (more photos)

I selfishly designed this little planner with myself in mind. I am a list maker, but I can't always find my list!!! This adorable 3-ring-binder has 5 divided sections to name whatever you want, paper for your lists and 3 calendar months leading up to Christmas. It can be used year after year by adding more paper and updating the calendar section OR you could turn it in to a mini-Christmas album after the holidays.

All products used were from Close To My Heart. The paper is brand new this year. This planner is easy to make and is sooooo cute! I'm booking workshops now so that you'll have this in your hands for the holidays!

Email me to set a date for your workshop -
shanherren"at"hotmail"dot"com
Kit cost is only $15!

Always lookin' forward to Monday

The founder and CEO of CTMH, Jeanette Lynton, has started a Color Me Monday post on her blog. I am always blown away by the colors she puts together. The lady has a really good eye for great color combos. Check out the colors for this past Monday and some of her projects using this color combo. I would have never thought to use that bright green with the other soft colors, but her layouts & projects confirm that these colors are a delight when used together. I'm going to try to put something together using these same colors. I'll post it this weekend. Why don't you try the colors and email your creation? I'd love to see what everyone can do with this combo!

Will Bella draw your name?

Only a few more days to take advantage of CTMH's Deal-A-Day sale! Sale ends July 1st!
I LOVE a good deal and love FREEBIES even more! To sweeten your shopping experience on my CTMH website during our June Deal-A-Day sale, I'm going to have a drawing for a Free Stamp set. Each time you make a purchase during the June Deal of the Day Event, I will enter your name in a drawing for a extra scrapbook goody from me! Each stamp set purchase will add your name in the drawing 5 times. Each Goody Box purchase will add your name in the drawing 10 times! (I have to say I'm quite jealous that I did not order the 1st Goody Box. My friend, Tracy, got hers today and it was packed with stamp sets, paper packs and embellishments!)

The winner of the drawing will have their choice of either "Butterfly Wings" or "Annotations". (Both of these stamp sets were Stamp of the Month sets and are no longer available.) After Bella draws the winning name, I will announce the winner on my website in July.

Good luck to all and happy shopping!!!! GRRRR - woof woof!

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

OK, so like I have two cute peeps that wrote comments on my last post for a drawing for a CTMH mini-stamp set. So, I emailed my BFF, Barbie and asked her what to do. I had a lot of trouble trying to draw one name out of a KFC bucket so... Barbie says you both win a free stamp set!!!
Congrats Paulette and Christian!
Since I know where you are, I'll catch up with you and deliver your mini-stamp set in person.

Thanks, Barb for helping me out of that blonde dilemma. Thanks for the comments chickas!

I've been so busy lately that I have neglected to blog! So get ready to catch up.

I really enjoyed this past weekend at Noel's. She hosted a National Scrapbook Weekend Crop.

I used all Close To My Heart supplies and just created my little heart out!

Here's what all I came up with:

This is my mom's senior portrait from 1939 - That's Amore paper was perfect for her. I also used that same paper for the Valentine page I did of me and the hubs.

This is a 6 X 12 page that I did for the "Shabby Chic" Challenge. I love this style! I used the Floral Tapestry paper to create this shabby look.

  • I also used the Floral Tapestry paper on this altered cork board that I got at Target in the $1 spot.

This last one is another 6 x 12 page using the Perfect Day paper. The challenge was to create my own background paper. I used the Connections stamp set to create the background.

What a fun crop! I really needed some time to play with the CTMH papers and stamps!

I'm so glad you are still reading. Leave me a comment and I'll put your name in the hat for a mini stamp set! I'll draw for the prize next Thursday evening (May 13th). So get your comments in and tell me what you like best about the Close To My Heart products I used or any other of our products.

"Look, Ma! No embellishments!"

Here's another layout I did for The Scrapbook Princess. I didn't use any embellishments because the Webster's Pages patterned paper was so "busy". I did some cut work around the leaves and added some CTMH Liquid Glass to the butterflies to make them shine. My journaling for the page was done on a vintage postcard that I downloaded FREE from Fairy Davis.

BFF Jennifer

This layout is about my BFF, Jennifer. She is always there for me and wearing a smile.
I used Webster Page's/Raspberry Truffle patterned paper, Making Memories flowers, Heidi Swapp heart mirror, buttons, Close To My Heart cardstock, stamps, ribbon & Pretty Pins and Pebbles Chips. You can purchase everything but the CTMH items from Paulette at the Scrapbook Princess. You can see my layout IRL at her store also.

I want to jumpstart my business by teaching workshops each month. My March workshop is this little (5x5 inch) picture cube. How cute is this??? This was made with all Close to my Heart products. My Word!

Lately I've had a lot of time to think about my goals and what I want to accomplish. What I came up with is "simple". I know that if I shed some of the excess "treasures" that I've been holding on to, it will make it easier for me to move forward to the next goal.
My initial inspiration first came from watching "Clean House". I crave to have less! I'm going to go through everything and have the biggest yard sale ever this year.
Knowing that it's not enough to just remove the clutter, I picked up When Organizing Isn't Enough by Julie Morgenstern. This book is more than just organizing. I think it's going to give insight on how to establish what I want out of life.
OK, OK...I got way off the subject of the layouts. Paulette aka Scrapbook Princess posted a challenge to pick a word that best describes your goal for 2009. I made two layouts of my word, which is "simple" - one for the store and one for me. I used the same idea for both layouts. I love the little vintage recipe cards that I used to journal on. Those came from one of my Noel Mignon kits. The patterned paper and alphas are Scrap Within Reach (still lovin those colors!).
Anyone else have a "word" to share???
